Notable Planets of Mechyrdia (list)
A list of the notable inhabited planets and moons of Mechyrdia. Notable, in this case, means "having a population of over 1 billion"; most planetary inhabitations of Mechyrdia are small colonies or settlements with populations of only a few hundred thousand.
Name | Name (Mec.) | Name (Tyl.) | Sector | Population | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Mechyrdion | Mehurdion | Mechurdas | Mechyrd | 25.6 billion | The capital world of the Empire. Has its own page. |
Kaiserswelt | Keisarswelt | Kaesarveltar | Texandria | 28.3 billion | Most populous planet in the Texandria sector, and the financial capital of the galaxy. Architecture is largely dominated by medieval-style castles augmented by modern technology. Majority language is High German. |
Karolina | Carolina | Karolina | Texandria | 16.9 billion | A semi-autonomous planet-wide kingdom within Mechyrdian space. Majority language is Swedish. Currently ruled by King Karl XII (no relation to the other King Karl XII), all of this planet's kings have been named Karl. Karolina supplies a small but very effective Mechyrdian Army chapter known as the Karoleans. They have a bit of a friendly rivalry with the Kozak Ice Warriors. |
Tyla | Tyla | Tula | Ciapadtyla | 14.7 billion | The capital world of the Tylan Republic, and the homeworld of the Tylan species. The whole planet is a massive cathedral-complex, augmented by both technology and the Tylans' psychic powers. |
Vensca | Wensca | Venska | Mestyla | 14.4 billion | A Tylan monastery, home of the Lihann Priesthood, in the same system as one of the galaxy's only naturally-occurring stable wormholes. This wormhole leads into the Ydroun system; surrounded by hostile territory in the galactic west, within Diadochi space, making Vensca one of the most valuable planets in Tylan space. |
Roma Nova | Rom Neu | Roma Vrena | Olympia | 14.1 billion |
Capital of the Olympia sector, has a sizeable French Catholic minority that used to live in the slums until the governorship of Marc Caton. In its ancient history, the planet was inhabited by extraterrestrial human tribals. A lost Roman legion from the Augustan era, as well as gunsmiths from Renaissance Tuscany and a small batallion of Italian soldiers and Somali Ascaris from World War 2, were transported by an unseen entity through time and space to the planet that would later be known as Nova Roma. The Italians, out of respect for their forefathers, adopted the Romans' customs, gods and words. With the gunsmiths' metallurgy and soldiers' technology, they eventually conquered much of the planet and established a New Roman Republic. The French Catholics arrived as colonists from Earth after the invention on Earth of bulkspace travel, and were largely treated poorly by the local Romans. |
Tenno no Wakusei | Ciarmund | Vares Karjas Kethula | Janus IV | 13.5 billion | Capital of the Janus IV sector. The Army chapter that hails from this planet is known as the Executioners, due to their ferocity with putting down rebellions. Most spoken language is Japanese, followed by Korean. |
Velocité | Velocitas | Velositas | Ferthlon | 12.8 billion |
Human stronghold of resistance during the Ferthlon Rebellion, during which it birthed the National Futurist ideology and the Escadron paramilitaries. Speaks French, just like Mont Impérial. Nowadays, Velocité has a tense relationship with the Imperial government, seeking independence for their État Irreal from Mechyrdia. The current Patron of Velocité is Anton Danton, a frightening man who carries the same cult of personality that his predecessors had created. |
New New Amsterdam | Neu Neu Amsterdam | Vrenavrenam Amsterdam | Nicólei | 12.3 billion | The largest settlement and current headquarters of the Dutch Outer Space Company. |
Mont Impérial | Mons Ciarstuolic | Moniar Kjarsrar | Olympia | 9.6 billion | Home of the Catholic Papacy, as well as a self-proclaimed "crusader planet". Has its own autonomous military within the Olympian military. Unique in Olympia that it has a French majority, instead of a French minority. |
Sacrilegum | Sacrilégum | Sakrilegam | Calibor | 8.8 billion | Capital of the Calibor sector. Known for its poverty, crime and political corruption. Stronghold of the Unió Democratic party, with a growing Proletaras Lew contingent. |
Earth | Erþ | Ertha | Nicólei | 8.4 billion | One of many homeworlds of humanity in the galactic south; along with Theden, Nova Roma, Ferthlon Prime, and the various homeworlds of the Drakhassi Federation, Earth is one of few planets whose inhabitants independently developed bulkspace FTL travel. The planet is now a massive museum-complex dedicated to the Age of Earth. |
Brotwelt | Brodweralþ | Brotaverleth | Texandria | 7.5 billion |
One of the few worlds that is directly administered by the Mechyrdian armed forces, where military decrees overrule even sector law. Before the Ilkhan War, Brotwelt was an authoritarian syndicalist oligarchy, managed from the top down by a council of labor union leadership. They were allowed autonomy by the imperial government of Mechyrdia, until they rebelled as they saw the war against the Ilkhan Commune as an attack on their values. |
Planète d'Hadrien | Hadriani Mund | Kethula Hadriasra | Štarkihet | 6.9 billion | Capital of the Štarkihet sector. Heavily fortified, in both land and space, against Diadochi attacks. During the Olympian persecutions of French Catholics, Planete d'Hadrien was a safe haven for the victims of Latinate tyranny. |
Languavarth Prime | Languawarþ Prim | Lagovareth Eilog | Languawarþ Untri | 4.7 billion | Capital of the Languawarþ Untri sector, and the homeworld of the Langovian species of the Tylan genome. Known for the Battle of Languavarth Prime, where the tide of the Great Galactic War famously turned. Also known for having a pastoral aesthetic to its architecture. |
Saiwatta | Saivatta | Sevatta | Vescar | 3.9 billion |
Home of the headquarters of Neleis, a digital supermarket corporation, in Ostaluux Continent. Also the home of the Saiwattins Hallus Independent Territory (SHIT), a former anarchist rioter commune that became a tyrannical warlord state mere hours from its founding. To this day, the SHIT still exists and continues to expand its borders throughout Veloxaamlye Continent, aided by the inaction of Saiwatta Planetary Police. Some suspect that Rex, the warlord of the SHIT, is a follower of the Herald of Fate, an Aedonic goddess. Whether this is true remains to be seen. |
Kozachnia | Cosačnia | Kosashnia | Nicólei | 3.1 billion | Known for being the coldest humanly inhabitable world in the Empire. Majority language is Russian. The Army chapter from here is known as the Kozak Ice Warriors due to their skill for inflicting heavy casualties on enemies in the cold. The Ice Warriors' snipers eat snow to avoid letting people see the fog in their breath. |
Mundus Caesaris Divi | Weralþ Caisari Bogliki | Teru Kaesaros Pshalkas | Olympia | 2.6 billion | Shrine world dedicated to the Latinic gods. Also the place where the treaty was signed to annex Olympia into Mechyrdia as a sector. |
Ferthlon Secundus | Ferþlon Secund | Ferthlo Vpursar | Ferthlon | 1.8 billion | Current administrative capital of the Ferthlon sector. Maintains a massive listening post to keep track of any rebellious activity in the sector. |
Ferthlon Prime | Ferþlon Prim | Ferthlo Eilig | Ferthlon | 1.6 billion |
Former capital of the Ferthlon sector, as well as rebellious Ferthlon Internation. Devastated by the Ferthlon Insurrection, it hasn't quite recovered since then. Infrastructure in many areas has completely collapsed, resulting in entire continents being administrated entirely by organized crime and rebel remnants. The parts that the government can control are where the populace lives in fear, as the planetary governor contracts private companies to provide services as secret police agencies, playing the role of judge, jury, and executioner. In order to prevent any revolutionary thought from appearing, these agencies wiretap calls, spy on homes, and make dissidents disappear in the middle of the night. The Mechyrdian imperial government turns a blind eye to this tyranny, partly because it preserves order, but also because of hard feelings from the war. |
